Zambia offers an incredible variety across the different safari areas, combined with the different ways you can experience the bush. Home to some of the best walking and river safaris in Africa, impressive wildlife experiences and great guiding, Zambia creates truly unforgettable experiences. The adrenaline centre of Africa is Victoria Falls, with activities ranging from white water rafting, helicopters flights and bungee jumping.

Zambia is the destination for those with a passion for safari, who are looking for a game-rich experience, excellent guiding, and accommodation ranging from natural walking camps immersed in the bush, to some of the most luxurious lodges in Africa. Zambia is famous for its warm hospitality; picture a welcoming smile and stories of recent adventures over a gin and tonic around the campfire. The national parks are less restrictive than many other African countries, and walking for all ages is actively encouraged. What’s more, everyone involved in your safari is passionate about making your experience as memorable as it possibly can be.

From the intense volume of wildlife in the Luangwa Valley, the vast open spaces of the Liuwa Plain, incredible activities of the Lower Zambezi, hot air ballooning over Kafue and the majesty of the Victoria Falls, an itinerary in Zambia can tick any number of boxes. Throughout the country, carefully managed national parks and important conservation initiatives mean Zambia is quite rightly associated with incredible wildlife experiences.

We love the seasonality of Zambia and how it preserves the country’s true wilderness, so affected by the climate. Safari season runs roughly from May through to November, after which the heat can be oppressive and the storms occasionally spectacular. Over those wet months, many of the national parks go 100% back to nature. This means no access and no tourists – just wild Africa.

The team at True Travel had a simple brief: to send us on the world’s best family safari. As soon as our boat headed down the Zambezi, it all kicked off; we passed a herd of hippos, a lazy crocodile and a giraffe drinking nonchalantly on the riverbank. A magical experience from beginning to end. Nothing was too much trouble and if we had any issue that needed resolving, there was always someone on hand to do this. Before and after, they were off the charts – simply an awesome team.
