HEART OF SOUTHERN AFRICA

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in the heart of Southern Africa, defined by its impressive national parks and dramatic landscapes, and really easy to combine with other destinations for the ultimate African itinerary. A safari here feels like nature in the raw, and it’s easy to see why Zimbabwe lays claim to being one of the continent’s most exciting destinations. Hand in hand with its oasis of wildlife, it boasts the best guiding in Africa (which we say is the most crucial element to a safari trip).

WONDER OF THE WORLD

Set on the Zambezi at the site of one of Earth’s seven natural wonders, Victoria Falls has a strong claim to become the hub of Southern African safari. Sharing borders with Zambia, Botswana and Namibia, entering Southern Africa via Victoria Falls makes a lot of sense for those visiting these premier tourist destinations.

THE MIGHTY ZAMBEZI RIVER

While Victoria Falls may be its crowning glory, the mighty Zambezi River, which forms the border with Zambia, offers safari experiences with a difference. This includes the beautiful and untouched Mana Pools along the banks of the Lower Zambezi, and Matusadona National Park on the shore of the man-made Lake Kariba. Along the river, embark on the only luxury riverboat with access to the lower part of the river, and spot a mixture of wildlife up close from sleeping crocodiles to water buffaloes whilst indulging in gourmet canapes. Enjoy the atmosphere along the banks of the river and prepare a traditional African ‘potjie’ dinner. Leave it to simmer over the fire as you join your expert guide on a river raft safari, returning to an African feast by candlelight.

DRAMATIC SCENERY & INCREDIBLE WILDLIFE

Explore everything from the Kalahari sands to Hwange (a game-rich national park almost the size of Belgium) to Victoria Falls, Africa’s crowning glory and one of the magnificent seven natural wonders of the world. Zimbabwe is a land of dramatic contrasts and five UNESCO World Heritage Sites, offering a sense of scale and wilderness that easily matches its more visited neighbours. We love exploring the national parks on foot, then adding some adrenaline with Victoria Falls helicopter flights, bungee jumping and white water rafting.

Jen & George

We were bundled into a vehicle and dashed off to see a leopard within the first 30 minutes of arriving; it was an AWESOME start. Our guide completely made the entire experience. He was an exceptional birder and his best party trick was to point out the bird and then tell us the exact page we could find it in our book. We combined Zimbabwe with Mozambique, and our beach hotel felt like a complete hidden gem. The sand is like ‘moon dust’ and the hospitality and food were fantastic.
