Urban Bustle
Urban life in India is abundant with sensory delights, which you can explore by touring the golden triangle. From the moment you step foot into the hustle and bustle of the cow-cluttered streets in Central India, you are engulfed by an explosion of colours and powerful aromas. Jaipur, The Pink City, is a vibrant metropolis comprised of winding stairwells guiding you between the exquisite selection of textiles shops that makes the perfect stop during a luxury holiday to India. The Blue City of Jodhpur can be easily navigated on foot or in a tuk-tuk meandering through the small cobbled streets, before exploring the busy markets outside of the city walls. Witness the washerwomen on the banks of the River Ganges in the mystical city of Varanasi.
Wildlife & National Parks
India is home to an enormous variety of wildlife. Spend the day in the Kanha National Park, one of India’s largest tiger reserves, for one of our signature tiger safaris, or head to the Himalayas for a rare sighting of a snow leopard. Enjoy sunset drinks amongst birdlife in beautiful forts or sit down for dinner in the jungle. Take the family on safari in Panna National Park or Ranthambore National Park, or glide through the calm waters of Ladakh where the aqua lagoon sits nestled in between jagged mountains.
A Land of Contrasts
The snow-capped mountains in the north of India provide a stark contrast against the country’s southern region that is awash with luscious vegetation and marshlands. Head to the Himalayas for cultural tours where you practise morning prayers with local monks in hilltop monasteries, or hop in a coracle (Indian wicker boat) to gently make your way through the backwaters of blissful Kerala in the south. Trek through the awe-inspiring scenery of Sikkim or visit the peaceful old town of Cochin that thrives on fishing with giant nets.
Majestic Architecture
India houses a plethora of pristine palaces and fascinating forts. As well as visiting the iconic sites of the Taj Mahal and the Amber Palace as you tour India, you can also experience this splendour yourself and be treated like a maharaja in opulent palaces that have been given a new lease of life as magnificent hotels. Wake up to peacocks roaming the grounds outside your bedroom window at Umaid Bhawan, or immerse yourself in the grandeur of the floating Lake Palace in Udaipur, famed for its appearance in James Bond’s ‘Octopussy’. Alternatively, you may enjoy travelling in style and comfort on the Maharaja Express train.
The Gibsons
I just wanted to thank you and your team for all of your efforts in planning and executing the perfect whistle stop tour of India’s highlights. All the hotels were exquisite and we can’t say enough good things about the Banyan staff who provided superb service at every step of the way. I will certainly recommend True Luxury to friends who are heading off to India and the other countries you serve!
