Beaches
Mauritius’ popularity originates from its stunning beaches concentrated in the glamorous east, popular north, and on those truly pristine offshore islands, reached by catamaran. It really is the ideal destination to sit back, relax and gaze out onto the vast Indian Ocean with a good book.
Water Sports & Golf
Water sports are a popular option here, including kite-surfing, parasailing, kayaking and windsurfing. Golf is also en vogue here too, with dozens of championship standard courses, including the Ernie Els designed Anahita, Bernhard Langer designed Ile aux Cerfs and Gary Player designed Saint Geran.
Diversity
At first thought, Mauritius conjures images of gently swaying palm trees, whiter than white beaches, crystal clear waters and luxury resorts. Whilst this paradise images is completely true, there is much more to be found on this fantastic island, with Indian temples, colonial houses, botanical gardens and wonderful wildlife. Remnants of the British colonial era linger such as driving on the left and copious tea plantations. There is a touch of the exotic though that runs throughout Mauritius, with dhal puri stalls at markets and hip-wiggling Sega performances abound.
Susan
Mauritius is the best winter escape for the whole family. My family travelled as three generations and True Travel made sure it was seamless. From having our rooms next to each other, ensuring babysitters were confirmed and making restaurant reservations – their service was faultless.
