Affectionately known as the warm heart of Africa, Malawi is home to the most friendly and welcoming people, as well as wonderful hospitality. For many years it has been known for its agricultural history and inland freshwater ocean, Lake Malawi. In recent years, Malawi has become a shining light for sustainable tourism and conservation practice, with the reintroduction of Big Five wildlife across its national parks ultimately making this little African country become a serious safari destination once again. No trip to Malawi is complete without tasting tea in the plantations, or horse riding over the Nyika Plateau.

Wildlife
Majete Wildlife Reserve is Malawi’s premier wildlife destination, but Nkhotakota and Liwonde are also home to varied game. Horse riding and fly-fishing on the Nyika Plateau is a fabulous experience and throughout the country, the birdlife is a real highlight.
Geographical Diversity
Set on the Great Rift Valley, it is the geographical diversity that really captures you here. There is a truly unspoilt and undiscovered feeling which simply adds to the charm; it’s not a rich country, but its wealth is in its variety and the warm and friendly people.
Landscapes & Scenery
Malawi, fondly known as the warm heart of Africa, is visited mostly for its exquisite beaches on the shores of the enormous Lake Malawi, once dubbed ‘the lake of stars’ by David Livingstone. Small in size, Malawi is a welcoming and vibrant country with a relaxed pace of life and plenty to offer including nine parks and wildlife reserves, tea plantations and the dramatic peaks of Mount Mulanje.
Henry
It’s been nearly ten years since we last visited Malawi, that time we just went to Lake Malawi after we’d been on safari in Zambia. This time we wanted to experience a bit more. It was amazing. We loved the Nyika Plateau and our stay at Mkulumadzi was one of our most memorable safaris. I don’t think there’s anywhere better on earth than Kaya Mawa – it’s the dream!
