Best Time to Visit

Why We Love Sri Lanka

Tropical Coastline

Located in the balmy waters of the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka has become somewhat synonymous with undeniably beautiful beaches. An idyllic blend of palm trees, white sand and turquoise waters make Sri Lanka’s coastline ideal for a beach holiday. Those more activity-inclined should visit the south coast for surfing or the east coast for kitesurfing.

Colourful Culture

Wander through the charming city of Galle Fort, exploring markets and local eateries as you go, or let an expert resident architect guide you through the fascinating world heritage site. Challenge yourself to climbing the 1,200 steps up Sigiriya Rock, an ancient fortress that was previously occupied by royalty – now inhabited by monkeys. Bike through the enchanting ruins of Polonnaruwa or take a tuk-tuk tour through Anuradhapura.

Rich Green Landscapes

Rural Sri Lanka is enveloped in lush green vegetation, much of which is inhabited by exciting wildlife. Get up close to elephants in Minneriya and head to Yala National Park for a possible encounter with a leopard. Also popular for leopard sightings is the lesser-known Wilpattu National Park. The ascension of Adam’s Peak calls for an early 2am start, as you are guided by the light of candles up the mountainside, but it is well worth it for the breathtaking views from the top. Spend the rest of the day relaxing as you enjoy a planter’s lunch amid the serene setting of tea plantations.

From Trains to Seaplanes

There are many varying means of travel across Sri Lanka, each of which adds a sense of adventure to your journey. Take a train from the sprawling city of Kandy to the rich green haven of Ella, admiring the immaculate rows of tea plantations as you go. Arrive in Yala National Park by seaplane from the tea country, hop aboard a tuk-tuk to reach local markets, and rely on the convenience of being chauffeur-driven to navigate your way around the country.

Judy & Chris

We had an amazing holiday in Sri Lanka. All the hotels, transfers, trips and experiences arranged by True Travel were perfect and all the arrangements went seamlessly according to plan. Our guide and driver, Thusita, was a really nice man and so knowledgeable, going out of his way to make sure that we experienced many of the Sri Lankan foods and traditions as possible. I would recommend True Travel to anyone especially if you have not visited the country before.
