Day 1-5
UPPER ZAMBEZI RIVER, Zambia
A great location to see both the lush rainforest surroundings of Victoria Falls and yet still stay in a traditional bush lodge for safari activities.
Begin by flying to Livingstone, where you’ll be privately transferred to Tongabezi Lodge for four nights. With an ideal riverside location right by the Upper Zambezi, sunset cruises down the river with a sundowner make for a perfect evening activity – both relaxing and full of wildlife sightings. Enjoy a day trip to see one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls, from the Zambian side. Thrill-seekers can take a dip in Devil’s Pool on the edge of the falls for unparalleled views over the water. Similarly, we can arrange a micro flight over the falls for a spectacular birds-eye view.
Day 5-9
LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK, Zambia
A national park with everything you could ask for – abundant wildlife, fish-filled waters and lively riverside wildlife.
Fly to the Lower Zambezi National Park where you’ll spend four nights in a suite at Chongwe River Camp. Whilst at Chongwe, a private guide will be at your disposal to make the most of your stay. In the heart of the elephant country, it’s not usual to see them wandering through the camp or taking a bath in the river. Enjoy wildlife sightings whilst on both walking safaris and game drives, or spend a day on the river fishing for the renowned tigerfish. Don’t miss the opportunity to spend a night under the stars, falling asleep to the distant sound of laughing hyenas.
Day 9-12
SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK, Zambia
Located on South Luangwa’s river system, this national park boasts prime spots to see bathing elephants and hippos.
Finish your itinerary with a flight to Mfuwe Airport. From here, you’ll be transferred into South Luangwa for three nights at Mchenja Bush Camp. Nestled on the banks of the River Luangwa, a variety of incredible animals are at your fingertips. Follow the river’s water sources and head out on a game drive in the hope of spotting lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Return to the wilderness at night for a taste of nocturnal bush drama. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot a civet or catch a glimpse of the elusive leopard during your stay, before returning to Mfuwe for your flight home.

The team at True Travel had a simple brief: to send us on the world’s best family safari. As soon as our boat headed down the Zambezi, it all kicked off; we passed a herd of hippos, a lazy crocodile and a giraffe drinking nonchalantly on the riverbank. A magical experience from beginning to end. Nothing was too much trouble and if we had any issue that needed resolving, there was always someone on hand to do this. Before and after, they were off the charts – simply an awesome team.
