The colloquial name given to the area to the west of the Greater Kruger National Park, the Panorama Route is a stunningly scenic area on the northernmost spur of the mighty Drakensberg Mountains. Visitors here can be active, explore beautiful scenic driving routes and get an insight in to some of South Africa’s unique history.The driving routes are one of the highlights of a visit here, with trips to God’s Window, the Mac Mac Falls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels all possible. A stop at the historic gold mining settlement of Pilgrim’s Rest offers a glimpse in to the region’s past and tells the story of how gold mining transformed the area’s fortunes.There are also a huge number of walking, hiking and biking trails that you can enjoy in the region, as well as white water rafting, golf and scenic helicopter flights you can take. Visits to the Kruger National Park are also possible, although many visitors will combine some time here with a full safari experience.
