Visitors who head north from Cape Town for a few days will be able to explore the wonderfully quaint Cape West Coast – think Cornwall but without the crowds. Charming fishing villages such as Paternoester, Langebaan and Yzerfontein sit on gently rolling beaches and are home to some great places to stay.

The food, especially seafood and more specifically shellfish is one of the big draws for coming here, with some incredible little restaurants found in the villages. You can see local fishermen heading out in the mornings and watch as they unload their catch which you can eat that evening.

It is also a very popular spot for kitesurfing enthusiasts, with Langebaan lagoon offering some of the best kiting conditions that Africa has to offer, making it a great destination for experienced kiters as well as beginners.
