Day 1-2
NAIROBI, Kenya
Spend one night at Giraffe Manor to experience the resident herd of Rothschild Giraffes, who visit each morning in the hope of sharing your breakfast.
Built in the 1930s and set in twelve acres of indigenous forest, Giraffe Manor is the ultimate location to spend your first night in Kenya. Experience the most unique breakfast in the world, sharing with the resident herd of endangered Rothschild Giraffes as they poke their long necks through the windows for a treat. Spend the day visiting the AFEW Giraffe Centre across the lawn from the manor to learn about these spectacular creatures, or bump into some of the warthogs, bushbuck or bird species that call the manor home. Enjoy the views over Ngong Hills with your afternoon tea in the manor’s beautiful courtyard playing croquet, before spending the evening in the Orchid House surrounded by 150 different orchids.
Day 2-5
MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, Kenya
Spend three nights exploring the southern, wilder corner of Kenya’s magnificent Masai Mara at Sala’s Camp, known to have one of the best locations in the reserve with views of Serengeti National Park.
Fly to Sala’s Camp in the southern sector of the Masai Mara Game Reserve to experience one of the best wildlife viewing spots in the reserve. The camp is positioned in close proximity to the Serengeti National Park, meaning Sala’s is one of the first camps in the Mara to witness the mighty annual migration of wildebeest. In fact, Sala’s Camp can offer its guests exceptional wildlife and birdlife year round, as it sits close to the confluence of the Sand and Keekorok Rivers – a major attraction for wildlife. After a day of exhilarating game viewing, guests can return to their stylish tented suites to relax by their private plunge pool, before enjoying a magical bush dinner under the stars.
Day 5-8
MASAI MARA PRIVATE CONSERVANCY, Kenya
Experience the original essence of safari with a stay at this authentic and luxurious tented camp, home to stunning wildlife and wilderness experiences.
Transport yourself back to the 1920’s with a stay at Cottar’s, a luxurious tented camp with endless charm and authenticity. The camp has a bygone era feel – reminiscent of the golden era – to allow its guests to experience the original essence of safari. The guests at Cottar’s choose this camp not only for its unique style, but also for its history. The camp is run by the oldest established and continuing safari family in Africa spanning over five generations, so there are decades of experience between them. The camp has the highest number of Gold Safari Guides within one camp in Kenya, meaning a safari here is always a memorable one. Cottar’s is also heavily involved with the local community and conservation efforts, adding even more reason to stay at this award-winning camp.
Tameem
I went on an adventure of a lifetime to Kenya, planned by True Travel. Borana was the perfect introduction to Africa – the staff were fantastic, the lodge very comfortable and I had amazing wildlife sightings. Then the helicopter flight and night out with Andrew (the real Crocodile Dundee) was an experience of a lifetime; we went scorpion hunting, crocodile catching, swimming in lakes and flew over flamingos. All in all, everything was fantastically planned and the service was brilliant. I’m looking forward to the next adventure!
