Day 1-2

NAIROBI, Kenya

  • Stay in our favourite quiet bolthole in the famous residential suburb of Karen
  • Visit the nearby Giraffe Sanctuary and Sheldricks Elephant Orphanage during your time in the city

Take the time to relax and rest your head with a night in this tranquil property before heading out on safari.

Once you have landed, travel to the verdant and affluent area of Karen, located south west of Nairobi, and stay one night at Karen Gables before heading into the bush. This charming and cosy Cape Dutch style private home is an attractive and tranquil place to take refuge from the city centre. Replenish your energy by dipping into the pool and stroll through the gardens. If you have the time, the most popular attractions are just a stone’s throw away – visit the Elephant Orphanage and feed beautiful giraffes at the Giraffe centre.

Day 2-5

LEWA, Kenya

  • We’re always astounded by the volume and variety of wildlife encounters and the enthusiasm of everyone involved in the conservancy
  • Walking in the hills of Lewa with a Maasai warrior is an unforgettable start to the day

Quite rightly famous for its forward thinking rhino conservation program, Lewa is a shining example of sustainable tourism and one of our favourite places in Africa.

Head into the wilderness for an ultimate safari experience by taking a small, domestic flight from Wilson airport to Lewa. Spend three nights in a charming guest cottage at the fifth-generation run family home of the Craigs, a family with a strong passion for wildlife conservation. With one guide per family, come close to the Big Five by open-top vehicle, guided walks, horseback or camel ride. Experience the extraordinary by ascending in a biplane with Will Crag to spot wildlife (at an extra cost), hiking with Maasai warriors, bottle feeding baby rhinos and spotting the unusual species of Grevy’s zebra.

Day 5-8

MARA NORTH CONSERVANCY, Kenya

  • If you want to guarantee great sightings of big game, the Mara North delivers this in abundance
  • Serian have access to a private area across the Mara River, which is perfect for a walking safari followed by a night spent under the stars in ‘The Nest’

We love Serian because every guest has a private guide and driver, giving you full flexibility to come and go as you please.

Finish your holiday by flying to the Masai Mara for a final taste of safari, where you’ll spend three nights at Serian ‘The Original’ luxury tented camp. Get a feel for true exclusivity with access to exceptional wildlife, award-winning guides, and sensational views over the Mara River and Olooloo Escarpment. With the camp located just outside of the Masai Mara, available activities stretch beyond usual day game drives. After breakfast in the wilderness, experience the bush by flycamping, bush walks, or even from the extraordinary height of a hot air balloon. For those eager to spot wildlife under the stars, hop on a night game drive after delicious sundowners. Once you’ve finished exploring the bush, return to Nairobi to catch your international flight home.

Tameem

I went on an adventure of a lifetime to Kenya, planned by True Travel. Borana was the perfect introduction to Africa – the staff were fantastic, the lodge very comfortable and I had amazing wildlife sightings. Then the helicopter flight and night out with Andrew (the real Crocodile Dundee) was an experience of a lifetime; we went scorpion hunting, crocodile catching, swimming in lakes and flew over flamingos. All in all, everything was fantastically planned and the service was brilliant. I’m looking forward to the next adventure!
