Spend the night at the ‘Karibu’ Guesthouse, meaning welcome in the Swahili language, to rest up before heading to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Arrive in Entebbe after your international flight and transfer to the Karibu Guesthouse for a relaxing overnight stay. This authentic guesthouse in the heart of the city is the perfect accommodation to recover from your flight and rest up before your gorilla trekking begins in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The staff are incredibly welcoming and the former presidential building is set within a beautiful tropical garden. Lounge in the garden pool or on a sunbed surrounded by avocado and mango trees as well as over 40 species of birds that visit the garden regularly.
Spend three nights at the Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge overlooking the Virunga Volcano and Nyiragongo Volcano.
Start your adventure honeymoon at the Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, walking distance to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Half of the world’s mountain gorillas call this park their home and during your stay you will wander through the forest trails of the park for a chance to get close to these incredible primates. On your two tracking adventures you will be fortunate enough to visit two different gorilla families that will give you a totally different experience in the park as each family has different hierarchies and characters. For those interested in having a really in-depth experience with the gorillas to understand their daily habits, there is an opportunity to try a Habituation Trek. After your treks, enjoy spectacular views of the Volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo back at the Lodge sitting next to a crackling fire by your private cottage.
Swap the cloudy mountains of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the unspoiled Mara North Conservancy
Spend three nights at the Offbeat Mara camp in the 74,000 acre Mara North Conservancy – an authentic and traditional bush camp. The camp has an intimate and informal atmosphere with guests gathering around the campfire each evening to share tales of the bush. Head out in the early morning or afternoon for game drives for some superb game viewing, or head out into the Bush on foot for a guided bush walk with one of the camp’s excellent Masai guides. Some memorable moments will include meeting the Offbeat Lion Pride that resides very near the camp and are considered family, as well as being joined by a herd of elephants during your bush breakfast. For the truly adventurous, guests can experience the dramatic Loita wildebeest migration in the months of July-October. In the early evening, enjoy a gin & tonic out in the bush or on your private tent veranda watching the African sun set on the Mara Bush.
Spend the last few days of your adventurous honeymoon in ‘castaway’ luxury surrounded by miles of unspoilt coastline.
Finish your honeymoon on an idyllic island in the Lamu’s archipelago at Manda Bay. Here you will be surrounded by miles of unspoiled coastline in an authentic and laid back setting. Spend your days picking from a range of water sport activities available such as kayaking through the island mangroves spotting ghost crabs or water-skiing. Cast or fly fish on the reefs or head out in the early morning on the Cheza boat to try your hand at deep sea fishing to catch barracuda, kingfish and marlin. Guests can also be guided around the UNESCO World Heritage town of Lamu – known as the oldest living town in East Africa. In the evenings enjoy swinging in beach hammocks or sail into the sunset on a traditional Swahili dhow boat with a sundowner in hand.
