Day 1-4
LAIKIPIA, Kenya
Connect with the wildlife without a car in this corner of Kenya that places an emphasis on leaving game drives behind.
After arriving into Jomo Kenyatta, transfer to Wilson Airport for a flight to Lewa. Begin your adventure at Lewa Wilderness, one of Kenya’s oldest and most private safari destinations, that is family-run with a passion for conservation and wildlife. Ditch the game drives and encounter wilderness through horseback or camel rides, walking safaris or an open cockpit biplane. Viewing wildlife in this way allows guests to get up close with wild animals and experience Kenya in a truly authentic way, as the Maasai do. Be led on a camel ride through the savannah by a moran to learn about the role they play in traditional nomadic life.
Day 4-5
LAIKIPIA PLATEAU, Kenya
Experience the ultimate safari wilderness activity by sleeping out in the plains, listening to the nocturnal sounds of the bush.
Take a private helicopter ride from Lewa Wilderness to a remote destination out in Laikipia plateau. Once you have arrived in your secluded spot, set up camp for a night of fly camping in the desert with incredible views all around you. Eat a dinner cooked over the campfire, before exchanging stories with your guide, and finally falling asleep under the blanket of stars that covers the African sky.
Day 5-6
KIPSING, Kenya
Change landscapes to explore the dried up luggas of the north, zipping across the terrain on a quad bike.
The following morning, take a private helicopter to Kipsing, on the edges of a lugga, where you will set off on a quad biking adventure across Kenya’s northern deserts. Enjoy your authentic ‘off road’ adventure by truly immersing yourself in the bush. Zoom through sandy riverbeds and past mighty kopjes to reach Kipsing Camp – your home for the night. Once here, you will spend another night fly camping as you sleep in a star tent. After breakfast the next day, quad bike back to Kipsing to catch a helicopter flight to Sera Conservancy. This is a really off the road and authentic adventure to immerse yourself in the bush.
Day 6-9
SERA CONSERVANCY, Kenya
End your trip with a focus on the wildlife, trekking through the savannah for the endangered black rhino.
Spend the remainder of your trip at Saruni Rhino, located in the heart of Sera Conservancy. Be thrilled as you spend your time tracking the eleven resident black rhinos on foot with a team of guides and rangers. Take pleasure in knowing this is the first ever rhino tracking experience in East Africa, adventuring where not many have gone before. After experiencing Sera’s wildlife, spend a morning admiring the landscape by trekking up the sacred Mount Ololokwe, stopping halfway for bacon and eggs on the mountainside before continuing on for spectacular views over Samburuland –Â the perfect finale to your trip.
Tameem
I went on an adventure of a lifetime to Kenya, planned by True Travel. Borana was the perfect introduction to Africa – the staff were fantastic, the lodge very comfortable and I had amazing wildlife sightings. Then the helicopter flight and night out with Andrew (the real Crocodile Dundee) was an experience of a lifetime; we went scorpion hunting, crocodile catching, swimming in lakes and flew over flamingos. All in all, everything was fantastically planned and the service was brilliant. I’m looking forward to the next adventure!
