Day 1-2
NAIROBI, Kenya
Take the opportunity to relax in Nairobi before embarking on your Kenyan safari.
Once you have landed in Nairobi airport, stay at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel for one night before beginning your Kenyan adventure. Situated just fifteen minutes from the airport, this hotel is the perfect base for resting your head. Ease into your trip with a dip into the rooftop pool overlooking the capital city, and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to set foot into the bush.
Day 2-5
LEWA, Kenya
Borana Lodge offers a fantastic range of activities and sense of freedom whilst on safari. Explore the bush on foot and enjoy horse riding through the rolling hills and valleys.
Take a small, domestic flight from Wilson airport to Lewa for three nights. Lying on the edge of the Samangua Valley in North Kenya, Borana Lodge not only boasts outstanding views of Mount Kenya, but also the most successful rhino sanctuary in the country. With their conservation efforts in mind, guests will experience authentic methods of witnessing the country’s wilderness and wildlife by walking, riding on horseback or in open-roof vehicles. Dip into the swimming pool that overlooks Hyena Valley Dam and watch elephants as they walk to a watering hole. The adventurous can upgrade with paragliding activities to spot wildlife from above.
Day 5-8
MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, Kenya
Enjoy a hot air balloon ride over one of the most iconic African safari destinations – the Masai Mara – and stay in a sophisticated tented camp.
Continue your Kenyan adventure in the Masai Mara, one of the most impressive wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The exclusive and spacious tents of Ol Seki Hemingways Mara, in the heart of Naboisho Conservancy, will be your home for three nights, providing outstanding views of nature and wildlife. Prepare for an unparalleled adventure where no two days are the same – experience the wildebeest migration, watch wildlife walking to a waterhole and enjoy a full day game drive of spotting lions and cheetahs. Immerse yourself in walking safaris, guided bird walks, hot air balloon rides, horse riding safaris and Maasai village visits.
Day 8-13
LAMU, Kenya
This is the chance for ultimate relaxation after the adventure of your safari. Manda Bay offers beautiful beaches and a fun atmosphere. Fish in the turquoise waters, then relax with expertly mixed cocktails each evening to celebrate your catch.
With a short flight to Lamu, finish your trip by the beach where you’ll stay five nights in a thatched cottage at Manda Bay. This idyllic and unspoilt island within the Lamu archipelago promises a chic beach hideaway with stretches of sand and palm-lined borders. Spend your days choosing between unwinding and action; seek out the resident herd of buffalo, paddle board through the mangrove waterways, fly fish on the reefs and sail out on a dhow boat for a sundowner. For culture cravers, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lamu is a 20-minute boat ride away, and you can visit an old Swahilli town originating from the 13th century. Once you’ve finished relaxing in paradise, return to Nairobi to catch your international flight home.
Tameem
I went on an adventure of a lifetime to Kenya, planned by True Travel. Borana was the perfect introduction to Africa – the staff were fantastic, the lodge very comfortable and I had amazing wildlife sightings. Then the helicopter flight and night out with Andrew (the real Crocodile Dundee) was an experience of a lifetime; we went scorpion hunting, crocodile catching, swimming in lakes and flew over flamingos. All in all, everything was fantastically planned and the service was brilliant. I’m looking forward to the next adventure!
