Why we love it
Elephant Pepper Camp is situated in the prime core of the protected and private Mara North Conservancy wilderness area. The exclusive tented camp has been in the same location for 20 years. Elephant Pepper is located away from other lodges, in the heart of the African bush. The spacious canvas tents are comfortably furnished, featuring en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and traditional safari showers. Nothing rivals sitting around the campfire listening to the sounds of the African night.
The vast, fertile plains of the Maasai Mara boasts a plethora of wildlife; with over 450 bird species and both resident and transient populations of lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, to name a few, the plains are dense with game. Elephant Pepper Camp is perfect for those wanting to observe the spectacle of the migration, classified amoung the “Seven Wonders of the World”, when, from July to November, over 1.3 million wildebeest and zebra cross from the Serengeti in search of greener pastures.
Enjoying extended game drives in the best equipped 4×4 game drive vehicles, clients participate in the most unique wildlife experience in the world. Elephant Pepper Camp brings people to the heart of the wilderness – no traffic, no permanent structures, just the sights and sounds of the African bush.
The camp’s remote location allows the stars to shine bright at night, undimmed by harsh lighting; guests enjoy the unique experience of listening to the sounds of lion, leopard and hyena foraging and hunting, whilst being cosseted with traditional and modern comforts such as a campfire and cosy duvets.
Drive through the Mara North Conservancy, known for some of the top wildlife viewing in the whole of the Masai Mara and being a prime spot for viewing wildebeest.
Watch one of the greatest wildlife spectacles of the year from camp, as thousands of migrating wildebeest and zebra come to find better grazing.
Drive out at dusk with red-light spotlights to have your eyes opened to whole new wildlife world, including hunting predators.
Leave the car behind as you take the time to enjoy the small things, like animal tracks, unusual flowers and micro-esystems.
Enjoy an al fresco breakfast out in the middle of the bush, surrounded by wildlife who are also coming out into the plains for their meal.
Partake in a safari tradition as you stop after a day of safari to watch the spectacular African sunset with a gin and tonic in hand.
Spend time with your Maasai hosts who will welcome you into their homes, where you will learn about their beautiful heritage and traditional way of life.

I went on an adventure of a lifetime to Kenya, planned by True Travel. Borana was the perfect introduction to Africa – the staff were fantastic, the lodge very comfortable and I had amazing wildlife sightings. Then the helicopter flight and night out with Andrew (the real Crocodile Dundee) was an experience of a lifetime; we went scorpion hunting, crocodile catching, swimming in lakes and flew over flamingos. All in all, everything was fantastically planned and the service was brilliant. I’m looking forward to the next adventure!
