Day 1 - 4: Jicaro Island, Granada

  • Visit the San Francisco Museum
  • Experience the ‘isletas’ by boat and take a dip in the pristine waters

Upon arrival in Managua airport, you’ll be driven 50 minutes to Granada and then jump in a short boat ride to Jicaro Private Island Lodge. Here, you’ll spend 4 nights where you’ll have the chance to relax in this barefoot luxury property, enjoy the sound of the water lapping and the nature surrounding you. Included in this stay you have a candlelit dinner on the lodge’s private floating deck. With the bright moon illuminating the peaceful waters around you, this romantic dinner will undoubtedly be a memorable part of your stay at Jicaro.

Over your next couple of days, you’ll discover the famous city of Granada, established in 1524 by the Spaniard Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba, making it the oldest city in mainland America. Granada is considered one of the prettiest cities in Latin America and there is plenty to explore. You’ll visit sites and colonial buildings as well as the San Francisco Museum, which preserves some of the most interesting indigenous ceramic and statue collections. Just like its streets and buildings, Granada’s history is colourful and impressive.

During your time on the island, you’ll also have the chance to experience the ‘isletas’ which are made up of over 100 tiny islands. You’ll visit them by boat, surrounded by nature and pristine landscape, learning about the lifestyle of the local communities and some important sustainability projects. Of course, you’ll also have the opportunity to jump in the pristine waters for a refreshing dip!

Finally, before you head off to your next destination, you’ll be able to completely de-stress and unwind with a full-body massage. Based on a brief consultation, the therapist will determine the best combination of techniques for your needs.
