Granada & Ometepe Island
Granada is the oldest city in Central America and its setting is second-to-none, overlooked by the majestic Mombacho volcano and located on the shores of Lake Nicaragua. Granada is an old Spanish colonial town and the cobbled streets, red roofs, quaint churches and quintessentially Spanish architecture makes this town a very attractive destination and by far the most beautiful town in Nicaragua.
Hop on a boat from Granada towards Ometepe Island where you’ll find the twin peak volcanoes of Concepción and Maderas, the former of which is still active! Life on these islands is at a very relaxed pace and most people lead a traditional rural lifestyle.
With a couple of days here, you’ll have time to explore at leisure – whether that be by going for a scenic cycle through banana, avocado, cacao and coffee plantations, a romantic walk on the wild beaches or spotting the plethora of tropical birds and other wildlife that this island is home to.
I would definitely recommend True Travel, and have already done so. They were attentive and very responsive. Planning our trip was a joy.
