I went on an adventure of a lifetime to Kenya, planned by True Travel. Borana was the perfect introduction to Africa – the staff were fantastic, the lodge very comfortable and I had amazing wildlife sightings. Then the helicopter flight and night out with Andrew (the real Crocodile Dundee) was an experience of a lifetime; we went scorpion hunting, crocodile catching, swimming in lakes and flew over flamingos. All in all, everything was fantastically planned and the service was brilliant. I’m looking forward to the next adventure!

Why We Love Kenya

Safaris for All Ages

Kenyan safaris appeal to families of all ages, with something to satisfy everyone. A strong sense of family values run through the lodges and reserves that have been kept by generations of safari experts, and Kenya is one of the few African safari destinations that allows younger children to get involved in the safari activities. Rest easy as a Maasai bushman takes your child on a walk through the plains, imparting the same level of protection as he would with his own child. For older children, bush activities such as quad biking and fly camping ensure adventure-fuelled days.

The Great Migration

The Masai Mara’s status as an iconic safari destination stems largely from its prime position as a Great Migration viewing spot. From July to October, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra migrate in search of better grazing spots. Whilst the sheer number of animals alone makes for incredible viewing, with it comes breathtaking wildlife drama, as the herds attempt river crossings — battling steep riverbanks, eddying currents, hungry crocodiles, and hunting lions. Join guides to witness this spectacular wildlife event on a game drive, by foot or horseback, from above in a balloon, or even sat on the veranda of your Great Migration camp, with a gin and tonic in hand.

Tribal Culture

Home to 42 different tribes, Kenya is a truly culturally diverse country. With a strong sense of cultural identity, experiences with the Samburu and Maasai tribes are filled with bright colours, vibrant song and dance, and incredible hospitality. Both tribes have strong cattle-herding roots, living alongside wild animals with a belief that game should be protected and not eaten. This long-standing comfort in the bush is transferred into your own safari experience, with cultural exchanges and the best possible guides to lead you through the wilderness. Every plant, path, animal and landmark tells a story when on walking safari with the Maasai.

The Sky is the Limit

Due to the fact that the majority of the country is comprised of privately-owned game reserves, Kenya has been able to adopt a much more relaxed approach to safaris than that seen across many other government-run African national parks. This truly places you in the steering wheel, with enormous freedom to tailor your safari to meet your own desires. Whether you’d like to focus on wildlife conservation projects, packing your week full of game drives, scaling Mount Kenya by helicopter, whizzing through the bush on a mountain bike, or safariing by camel, Kenya will accommodate.
