Why we love it
Camellia Hills is located near Dickoya and Hatton, in the south western hill country. Spectacularly located high up on the side of a verdant valley overlooking Castlereagh Reservoir, and surrounded by emerald green tea estates, the hotel’s ample gardens, living and dining areas and five individually designed guest rooms all share in stunning panoramas. This is a contemporary interpretation of a tea bungalow-style hotel, offering high-end personalised butler service, exceptional food and all-inclusive rates (includes three meals, snacks, high tea
and drinks).
Guests can take their pick from a number of experiences at the hotel including picturesque guided tea estate walks, village and tea factory visits and nature trails. Leopards live in the surroundings and guests could visit a leopard research station to learn more about these elusive cats and see the photographs generated by their camera traps.
Drive through Camellia Hills' valley of tea bushes to a colonial era tea factory, where you can observe the age old art of tea production.
Ascend to Adam's Peak for panoramic views of the crisp hill country and tea plantations of Dickoya.
Hike to a nearby waterfall and feel its cool water refresh you before tucking into a deliciously prepared picnic.
Watch and learn as you are taught the intricacies of Sri Lankan cooking with the use of terracotta cooking pots.
Discover this eerie highland plateau and spot sambar deer, purple-faced langurs, Sri Lankan leopard and the endangered red slender loris, as you walk through montane grassland and cloud forest.
Cruise down the Castlereagh reservoir in the shadow of Dickoya's emerald hills, before sipping sundowners beside a crackling fire in the dining room.
Visit the 'city on the plain', considered the centre for tea production in the country, and overlook the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka, Pidurutalagala.

We had an amazing holiday in Sri Lanka. All the hotels, transfers, trips and experiences arranged by True Travel were perfect and all the arrangements went seamlessly according to plan. Our guide and driver, Thusita, was a really nice man and so knowledgeable, going out of his way to make sure that we experienced many of the Sri Lankan foods and traditions as possible. I would recommend True Travel to anyone especially if you have not visited the country before.
