Why we love it
A truly inspiring and authentic wildlife experience on Sri Lanka’s Southern Coast. The Wild Coast Tented Camp consists of 28 cocoon-style tents that look like theyâve landed from outer space and offer guests an otherworldly, luxury experience. The elevated tents are made of pale PVC-like fabric stretched over a steel, sculpture-like exoskeleton. With portholes punctured in the fabric, as well as angled glass walls, the Wild Coast Tented Camp provides guests with a wholly unique and memorable stay unlike any other. The open-air, bamboo-clad den and dining room wraps around the resortâs enormous free-form swimming pool and presents views of the turquoise blue Indian Ocean, with fresh local delicacies such as steamed red snapper and okra salad to immerse guests in the flavour of the country as they relax in their tropical home-from-home. The campâs location truly encapsulates the best of Sri Lanka, with its own feverishly unique colour, culture, and an abundance of beauty.
The beach location is a rarity on safari holidays and is a
stunning asset to this camp, as guests have the opportunity to trek leopards on safari in nearby Yala National Park in the morning, then be walking bare foot down the golden sand beach in the afternoon. The jungle-fringed beach is often completely empty, giving guests a feeling of total privacy and relaxation in the stunning, slow-paced gentility that is Sri Lankas Southern Seaboard. The Yala National Park is famed for its animal kingdom with thriving populations of elephants, leopards, crocodiles, sloth bears, and eagles; the park has the highest concentration of leopards in the world, with a count of over 200 of these allusive apex predators. The camp offers guests an authentic Sri Lankan escape, an experience described as âthe best of India, with the volume turned downâ. With a rich cultural heritage, amazing wildlife, stunning scenery, and now this phenomenal camp, Sri Lanka is the place to visit and Wild Coast Tented Camp is the place to stay.

Soak in the serenity at Sithulpawwa, a 2nd century BC Buddhist monastery set high on rocky outcroppings and caves in a national park. Keep an eye out for elephant and leopard on the journey and visit late afternoon when the light is particularly magical on the jungle below.

We had an amazing holiday in Sri Lanka. All the hotels, transfers, trips and experiences arranged by True Travel were perfect and all the arrangements went seamlessly according to plan. Our guide and driver, Thusita, was a really nice man and so knowledgeable, going out of his way to make sure that we experienced many of the Sri Lankan foods and traditions as possible. I would recommend True Travel to anyone especially if you have not visited the country before.
