Why we love it
Enjoy a safari by boat on Sri Lanka's largest lake. Spot elephants swimming between islands or bathing at the lake's edge.
Join the resident naturalist for a walk through the trees and around the lake to observe a range of birds such as kingfishers, eagles, kites and many aquatic birds.
Journey into the forgotten Nilgala section of Gal Oya National Park. Learn about the abundant medicinal plants and wildlife, picnic next to a waterfall then swim in the river after a delicious lunch.
Rise early and trek to the top of Monkey Mountain. Watch the sunrise over the hills and neverending jungle canopy below.
Have a leisurely cycle to a small lake teeming with bird life, or to a reservoir in the national park.
Walk with the village chief of a Veddha community, one of the last remaining forest dwelling, indigenous people of Sri Lanka. The forest comes alive as he explains his tribe's use of medicinal plants, ancient hunting grounds and cave dwellings.
Forage through the forest for ingredients then prepare traditional local meals such as river fish curry, spiced yams, forest salads and Kankun in the outdoor jungle kitchen.

We had an amazing holiday in Sri Lanka. All the hotels, transfers, trips and experiences arranged by True Travel were perfect and all the arrangements went seamlessly according to plan. Our guide and driver, Thusita, was a really nice man and so knowledgeable, going out of his way to make sure that we experienced many of the Sri Lankan foods and traditions as possible. I would recommend True Travel to anyone especially if you have not visited the country before.
