After flying into Queenstown, you’ll be driven to Blanket Bay, an alpine lodge occupying a lakeside position in the heart of the Southern Alps. Spend four nights here in a family villa – perfect for relaxing in privacy as a family. Let us arrange a wide range of activities, such as jet boating along the crystal clear Dart River and hiking the Paradise region (where The Lord of the Rings was filmed). For the ultimate experience, upgrade to a scenic helicopter flight into the Fiordland to see glaciers and waterfalls.

Day 5-9

NELSON, New Zealand

  • Enjoy a game of tennis with your family on the lodge’s courts
  • Visit Abel Tasman National Park, a coastal wilderness reserve

Escape to Nelson’s countryside for a stay in a charming lodge set amongst natural beauty, with easy access to fun coastal activities for the whole family.

Fly to Nelson for four nights at Te Koi, a beautiful lodge on the Bronte Peninsula. With Abel Tasman National Park on your doorstep, exploring the park’s turquoise waters and golden beaches is a must. Upgrade to a private helicopter to experience bird’s eye views of the park’s coastline before feasting on a picnic and spotting the famous Split Apple Rock out at sea. We can arrange a boat trip into Tasman Bay to spot dolphins and whale. With the option to hire sea kayaks, discover the colourful waters of the Marlborough Sounds and you might spot an inquisitive seal up-close.

Day 9-12

ROTORUA, New Zealand

  • Take a dip in the Soda Springs thermal pools
  • Discover colourful fish with a mask and snorkel whilst exploring hidden coves

Stay in a lakeside paradise, right on the shores of the tranquil Lake Rotoehu, in an area famous for its geothermal activity.

Fly to Rotorua to continue your family adventure at Wildwood Lodge. Occupying a beautiful lakefront position with no other house in sight, a stay here promises ultimate privacy. Wander down to the nearby Soda Springs for a dip in the thermal springs, well-known for their healing and relaxation properties. We can arrange a sailing trip on Lake Rotoiti to snorkel in hidden coves, with the option to upgrade to trout fishing. Similarly, we can organise a day trip to Kaituna Cascades where you’ll experience the thrill of white water rafting on the world’s highest rafted waterfall.

Day 12-13

AUCKLAND, New Zealand

  • Pick from Auckland’s huge selection of amazing restaurants
  • Feel like a hobbit as you explore the set of the Lord of the Rings

Auckland is a significant city centred around two harbours, lined with waterfront cafes and dotted with volcanic cones, and is referred to as the North Island’s beating heart.

Your final stop is Auckland, where you’ll spend one night at The Sofitel Viaduct Harbour. On your drive from Rotorua, a stop at Hobbiton is essential. Step into the movie set of both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and explore the enchanting pastures of Shire. Once you’ve reached Auckland, venture up to the foodie neighbourhood of Ponsonby for an incredible selection of eateries. From gourmet food markets to seafood bistros, they’ll be something to satisfy every need. Make your way back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep before flying home.

Lesley & Harry

We had such a wonderful holiday. Katie put together a brilliant itinerary, which we tweaked a little in places, and the accommodation she chose was first class. She gave us great recommendations of activities and the whole trip went smoothly. Timings worked well between destinations because she had good knowledge of New Zealand, and the driving distances, car changes, ferry crossings, meeting points for activities were all easily achievable.
