Fort Bazaar

The Fort Bazaar Hotel, nestled within a 16th century UNESCO World Heritage Site on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, is one of Galle Fort’s newest boutique hotel. After 9 years of meticulous renovations this historic 17th century townhouse opened it’s doors to guests in January 2016. Beautifully built around a traditional Galle Fort private courtyard the Fort Bazaar is home to the highly acclaimed Church Street Social restaurant and bar, headed up by Executive Chef Neal Giles, this modern minimalistic restaurant has drawn fantastic reviews for their service, quality and value. A contemporary mix of local Sri Lankan and Mediterranean delicacies with some of the freshest seafood around. Boasting 15 stylish yet understated rooms and 3 spacious suites the Fort Bazaar is undoubtedly the trendiest boutiqueehotel on the island. As a guest here you also have access to a private library and cinema as well as a 15m swimming pool. There is also their Balinese inspired ZSpa, conceptualised with the weary traveller in mind, where you can choose from a number of signature massages, scrubs and treatments, or if something truly unique takes your fancy, why not tailor one to suit your needs.Outside of the hotel there also numerous sights and activities to explore. Of course right on your doorstep you have Galle Fort, whose treasure trove of colonial antiquities, shops and cafes are all easily explored on foot, either on your own or with an informative local guide provided by the Fort Bazaar. There are also whale watching cruises, guided bike tours, jungle yoga classes and private walks through a lowland tea plantation to name a few.
