Casa Heliconia
Colombo, Sri Lanka
Why we love it
Casa Heliconia is an intimate and eclectic hideaway where lush jungle meets stylish luxury. The property possesses just 2 luxury rooms, each of which are located in their own individually stylized pavilions. The individual location and individual veranda dining of the rooms offers guests complete and ultimate privacy. This ”jungle glam” property boasts interiors with a fusion of Western and Asian art and antiques, providing guests with a true tropical home from home.
The ideal location and layout of the Casa Heliconia, within 25km of the airport, means that this hotel lends itself perfectly for a stay at the beginning or end of a Sri Lankan itinerary, a romantic getaway, or even to groups or families wishing to take a whole property to themselves. The property is ideally located for cultural immersion, as it is positioned on route to the Cultural Triangle and Kandy, close to markets, small temples, villages, and farmlands, offering guests the opportunity to personally experience Sri Lankan culture on their doorstep.
The facilities of the Casa Heliconia provide guests with the opportunity for ultimate relaxation and a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the lively city of Colombo. The Pavilion Neapolitan features an infinity pool with absolutely stunning views across the surrounding plantations and paddy fields, whilst the well-appointed multimedia room, the ”Doll’s House”, is equipped with a 42” flat screen TV, create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere within the hotel walls.
The cuisine of the hotel is strongly influenced by the surrounding rural villages and their heritage. Local rice and curry dishes or modern fusion ”beyond curry” dishes provide guests with true Sri Lankan flavours. Guests who are keen to learn the art of Sri Lankan cookery have the unique opportunity to take lessons in the traditional wood-fired clay kitchen under the supervisions of the local chefs.
Go back in time with a trip to the Buddhist Monks at Uruwala Temple, a visit to the ancient frescoes of Waruna Temple, or to the 12th century hamlet of Dedigama.
Experience a panoramic view of the paddy fields with a delicious picnic of procured local delicacies, before heading to a quintessential Wedamulla village.
Take a trip to the Cadjugama, the 'Village of Cashew Nuts', and sample the variety of flavoured cashews such as the roasted chilli cadjus.

We had an amazing holiday in Sri Lanka. All the hotels, transfers, trips and experiences arranged by True Travel were perfect and all the arrangements went seamlessly according to plan. Our guide and driver, Thusita, was a really nice man and so knowledgeable, going out of his way to make sure that we experienced many of the Sri Lankan foods and traditions as possible. I would recommend True Travel to anyone especially if you have not visited the country before.
