  • Be amazed by the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets

Located on the South West of coastal Kerala, Kochi is a port city dotted with religious monuments and museums, stretching across peninsulas and islands

Begin your trip in Kochi, where you’ll spend three nights at Brunton Boatyard, a hotel perfect for relaxation and in a scenic location on the ancient Cochin’s harbour. Outside the hotel walls, spend your days exploring the city, where you’ll stumble across the Spice Market, 15th century Chinese fishing nets, and the historic Fort Cochin. During the evenings, we can arrange for you to take a harbour cruise at sunset and witness a traditional Kathakali dance performance. For those interested in learning about the delights of local cuisine, enjoy a Keralan cooking class.

Day 4-6

MUHAMMA, India

  • Savour a traditional Kerala style lunch on a houseboat in the backwaters
  • Wake up early for a relaxing session of morning yoga by the lake

A bustling city on the coast of the Laccadive Sea, these calm backwaters of Kerala are the reason it’s coined as the ‘Venice of the East’.

From Kochi, travel on to Muhamma, where you’ll spend two nights at Purity Lake Vembanad, a beautiful property set on the banks of Lake Vembanad and lined with interesting artwork. In the morning, rise to breathtaking views over the lake whilst practising yoga in the pavilion. Then, unwind by the lake-side pool, uncover the surroundings by bicycle or indulge in Ayurvedic massage treatments. A must-do is a day cruise on the backwaters where you’ll taste traditional food and watch as the sun sets over the peaceful and picturesque palm-fringed waters. Sandy shores are within easy reach for those craving the beach.

Nestled in a peaceful corner of Negombo’s rural backcountry with a high-class spa and acres of tropical gardens, this is the perfect place to rest your head and unwind before visiting the Hill Country. Judy & Chris

We had an amazing holiday in Sri Lanka. All the hotels, transfers, trips and experiences arranged by True Travel were perfect and all the arrangements went seamlessly according to plan. Our guide and driver, Thusita, was a really nice man and so knowledgeable, going out of his way to make sure that we experienced many of the Sri Lankan foods and traditions as possible. I would recommend True Travel to anyone especially if you have not visited the country before.
