Day 1-3
BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK, Uganda
A national park holding more than half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, Bwindi is a dense primaeval forest perfect for gorilla trekking.
Fly into Entebbe International Airport and you’ll be transferred to Kihihi Airstrip for a faster connection to the national park. Once landed, your private guide will meet you and take you to Bwindi Lodge for a two-night stay. With nothing more than a stream separating the lodge and the forest, the gorillas themselves are frequent visitors to the lodge. Rejoice in being able to walk out of your banda and immediately set out on a trek to see some of the habituated gorillas up close in their own environment, with three gorilla families living in the forests which start just a five-minute walk from the lodge itself. Relax in your private banda room with views over the lush jungle, and enjoy the luxuries of the lodge’s spa after a long day trekking.
Day 3-6
MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK, Uganda
Uganda’s smallest national park but also one of its most beautiful, framed by three Virunga volcanoes.
Follow your guide on a cross-forest walk south of Bwindi Lodge to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where you will be transferred for a three-night stay at Mount Gahinga Lodge. Nestled at the foot of the Virunga Volcano, this leg of your trip provides more opportunities for incredible gorilla trekking. If you’ve filled your quota of gorillas, golden monkey trekking is on offer too, providing you with the chance to see these colourful but endangered primates up close. Learn more about the park and gain an insight into the local community with walks into the local settlements. And for the more adventurous, we can arrange for you to go volcano climbing up Mount Gahinga, before returning to Entebbe on your final day to catch your transfer home.

It was absolutely magical. As soon as we turned the corner and saw the first gorilla, I started to cry because I was so happy. They were also fantastic lodge recommendations from the True Travel team! Bwindi Lodge was hands down my favourite, amd we also loved getting out of the car and hiking to get there. As you’ll see, my dream of being close to the gorillas really came true. We had such a wonderful time, and thank you for your help making it come to life.
