Discover the spectacular array of wildlife that call the Volcanoes National Park home during your stay at the luxury Gorilla’s Nest.

Begin your Rwanda adventure at the stylish One & Only Gorilla’s Nest, surrounded by a beautiful volcanic topography and eucalyptus groves. It is the closest lodge to the entrance of the Volcanoes National Park and therefore is the ultimate destination for gorilla treks through the historic rainforest. From here, you can track a family of endangered mountain gorillas, spot golden monkeys and over 300 different bird species trekking through the National Park. Gorilla’s Nest also offers guests the chance to visit a traditional Rwandan village to learn about local rural life, a wellness centre, infinity pool to unwind after your treks, and an open-air restaurant where guests can enjoy the surrounding volcanic landscape.

Day 3 - 6: Nyungwe National Park, Rwanda

  • Experience the only place in Rwanda that you can track chimpanzees at the Nyungwe National Park
  • Embark on the Mount Bigugu walking trail over the highest peaks in the park to look out over the beautiful Lake Kivu

Spend three nights at Nyungwe House to discover the unique flora and fauna of the ‘Eden of Africa’.

Transfer by helicopter to the One & Only Nyungwe House in the ancient rainforest of the Nyungwe National Park, known as the ‘Eden of Africa’. This forest is home to chimpanzees, twelve other primate species like the colobus monkeys, 300 species of birds and 100 species of orchids. Embark on a forest walk tailored to your needs to track the habituated chimpanzees or spot a rare Grauer’s rush warbler whilst walking across the canopy walk boardwalk high in the trees. We recommend the  Mount Bigugu trail that has impressive views over Lake Kivu – one of the Great African Lakes –  from its position in the peaks. The stunning Nyungwe House is set within rolling fields of a working tea plantation, where guests can enjoy a guided tea estate or unwind from their treks with a private yoga and meditation class at the spa.
