Rwanda’s capital city spreads across many hills and valleys, and boasts an incredible restaurant scene.

Fly into Kigali International Airport and spend one night in Hôtel des Mille Collines, the setting of the Hollywood drama Hotel Rwanda. Let a private guide take you on a city tour to gain a better understanding of this little African country’s troubled past at the Kigali Genocide Museum, as well as their impressive plans for the future. Observe some stunning Rwandan art at the colourful Inema Arts Centre, and stay to partake in a yoga session amongst the artwork.

Day 2 - 5: Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

  • Spot the King of the Jungle as you trek through the rainforests looking for silverbacks
  • Hike up to the see the tomb of Dian Fossey, the primatologist who spent 20 years in the park

A rainforest paradise, this national park is home to gorillas, golden monkeys and five volcanoes.

You’ll be greeted by your private guide who’ll drive you to Volcanoes National Park to stay at Virunga Lodge for three nights. The setting of this lodge a little further away from the park than others, allowing for the best view of the volcanoes as you wake up in the morning. Spend your days here getting close to nature with guided treks through the national park. Head out into the park for some of the best adventures of your life, including a golden monkey trek and a gorilla trek. For an authentic perspective on how rural Rwandans live, don’t pass up the opportunity to meet the locals in a nearby village, whilst visiting a school or community project, before returning to Kigali airport at the end of your trip.
