Singita Kwitonda Lodge
Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
Why we love it
Singita Kwitonda Lodge is opening in August 2019, set on a 178-acre pocket of land close to the Volcanoes National Park in north west Rwanda. Kwitonda builds on the exciting opening of Bisate Lodge and adds to the other 5* accommodation gorilla trekking lodge options of Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge and VIrunga Lodge. Singita are set to up the ante again in terms of accommodation style, service standards and luxury experiences. This truly will be a bespoke and spectacular lodge from which to experience one of Earth’s wildlife highlights.
The high-altitude cloud forests of Volcanoes National Park are home to more than one third of the world’s mountain gorillas. Singita is working to support the Rwandan government to protect and increase the habitat area for the mountain
gorillas. Singita’s mission is to create low-impact tourism to help preserve areas of iconic African wilderness. The lodge has magnificent views of the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes.
The lodge will offer seven one-bedroom suites, a two-bedroom suite and a four-bedroom villa. The distance of each gorilla trek is varied, meals and lodge activities are flexible around each trek. Along with mountain gorillas, there is also the opportunity to see golden monkeys, side-striped jackal, black-fronted duiker, buffalo, elephant and an abundance of bird life. Trips to the Afro montane forests of Nyungwe National Park, Lake Kivu and the capital city Kigali are also on offer.
Trek through the Rwandan Rainforest to encounter Africa's majestic and gentle creatures up close in the wilderness.

We were so impressed with the standards here, particularly the level of service. The gorillas, of course blew us away and the whole trip was a truly spectacular wildlife experience.
