San Camp the Sister Camp of Jack’s Camp is spectacularly located right on the edge of the historic Makgadikgadi Salt pans, a relic of one of the world’s largest super-lakes, the Makgadikgadi dried up thousands of years ago as a result of the continued shifting of the earth’s crust and is now one of the largest salt pans in Africa. A billowy beige canvas pavilion is the central living area where guests gather for lavish and elegant meals with an adjoining tea tent filled with a variety of soft scatter cushions, surrounded by six large luxurious white canvas tents each with a private en-suite and magnificent views across the Pans. The cool white decor of Egyptian cotton sheets and Persian rugs form a striking contrast with the rugged wilderness of the Makgadikgadi. The camp offers guided walks through the desert with some of the San Bushmen who will educate you in their ancient ways and traditions. Slightly inland from the pans there are a few families if Meerkats which you will get to spend time with. Walking, quad biking or riding through the Pans you will experience the silence of utterly nothing, you will here no noises but those of the animals and crunch of salt under boot. This is a safari like no other in Africa.
Situated in the middle of the Okavango Delta surrounded by reed-filled grassland and waterways which can be explored by boat or traditional Mokoro.
