The Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel is situated in the oldest part of the city. The hotel is set in a handsome, wedge-shaped three-storey building that was constructed in the early 20th century as the city’s first high-end department store. The 50 rooms are on the large size for Reykjavik, and have been designed with the same emphasis on tasteful colour schemes – albeit more muted than the public areas, mostly gold-hued browns and oranges matched to historic black and white photos on the walls. Set in the heart of the city centre, the Reykavik Konsulat is quick walk from the Harpa Concert Hall, Parliament buildings and the famous Laugavegur street, bustling with shops and top restaurants. The famous Sun Voyager Sculpture is just a short amble away, as well as the National Museum of Iceland, meaning there is plenty of opportunity to soak up the history of an authentic Iceland.
Previously home to a heard of hardy Icelandic Sheep, Deplar Farm is the ultimate Icelandic adventure destination, with its awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Troll Peninsula, nestled at the base of snowy topped mountains in a valley that runs all the way north towards the Atlantic Ocean.
