Embark on an exciting Icelandic escape, discovering Reykjavik’s culinary delights and engaging in thrilling activities like heli-skiing, Golden Circle explorations, and mesmerizing Northern Lights sightings.
Day 1 - 3: Reykjavik, Iceland
Day 3 - 8: Northern Iceland, Iceland
Arrive into the Icelandic capital for a couple of days taking in some of the country’s many highlights before you venture north.
Reykjavik revels in its reputation as being one of the most modern, forward-thinking societies in Europe. It is also an amazing platform to get out into the Icelandic countryside by modified superjeep and experience the great Icelandic outdoors.
Spend one day exploring The Golden Circle route, undoubtedly the most popular sightseeing tour in Iceland. Its proximity to the capital city definitely plays a part in that, but furthermore, it shows you samples of some of the greatest sights Iceland has to offer. You’ll visit Thingvellir National Park – a stunning area on the UNESCO preservation list with amazing geological history and the place where the world’s oldest parliament was formed. Whilst you’re there you will take a walk through Almannagjá Gorge. Next stop will be at the world-famous Geysir hot spring, surrounded by dozens of other geothermal wonders. You will also see Gullfoss ‘Golden Falls’ waterfall. Then onto the mighty Langjökull glacier and then on your way down from the glacier you can enjoy serious jeep fun.
Other experiences that can be arranged during an Icelandic winter is snowmobiling, visits to Ice Caves, snorkelling in the Silfra Fissure and a Superjeep experience along the South Coast of the country.
Enjoy ultimate luxury in the middle of the Icelandic wilderness
Carve tracks in the snow with heli-skiing under the midnight sun
Immerse yourself in the Icelandic wilderness and escape artificial light, enhancing your chances of seeing the Northern Lights.
Once a working sheep farm, located in a remote valley in the Troll Peninsula, Deplar Farm is perhaps the most unique place to stay in Iceland. During the winter, opt for the heli-ski opportunities to fly up into the surrounding peaks then slalom down virgin runs all the way to the ocean accompanied by Deplar’s in house expert guides.
This remote area sees some of the highest average snowfall on the planet, making it a dream spot for skiers. With two helipads on the property, guests have instant access to rolling descents and steep couloirs that take you all the way to the ocean. Iceland’s maritime snowpack provides stable conditions ranging from smooth, buttery slopes and corn snow to fresh powder, and the region’s midnight sun makes it possible to carve tracks at 10pm.
Should you not fancy it, you can also go cat skiing, hot spring hopping, snowmobiling, whale watching and even surfing (for the brave). End the day back at the lodge, under the glow of the Northern Lights with a little luck. Finally, don’t worry about sore muscles. Deplar’s geothermal heated outdoor pool, Isopod flotation tanks, and talented massage therapists relieve any ski fatigue so you’ll never have to miss a ski day.
