Rincon del Socorro

Corrientes

Rincon del Socorro is a renovated farm located within an enormous natural park in the north east of Argentina, in the Iberá Wetlands. The Iberá Wetlands are seasonally flooded grasslands, which are also home to palm groves, savanna, woodlands and forests. It was created by Douglas Tompkins, a philanthropist and conservationist and is now handled by his foundation, The Conservation Land Trust. The team have now resorted and expanded the old buildings of the farm and gone through an intense rehabilitation and re-wilding programme, where you can now spot giant anteaters, pampas deer, peccaries and hundreds of species of birds. The lodge itself has large a swimming pool for hot days as well as a fireplace for cooler evenings. It has just 11 rooms and includes full board and activities during your stay. Dishes are prepared using vegetables grown in their organic garden, and of course, you’ll be able to savour the mouth-watering Argentinian bbq or ‘asado’.

Reasons we love Rincon del Socorro

  • One of the best and most successful re-wilding programmes in South America
  • Less visited, ‘off the beaten track’, yet very combinable with places such as Buenos Aires and the Iguazú Falls
  • Visitable all year round and each season has it’s own highlights
