Udaipur is one of Rajasthan’s magical cities, known to many as the Venice of the East, with Pichola Lake being a central feature. The city is located in the southernmost part of Rajasthan, near the Gujarat border. It is surrounded by the Aravali Range which separates it from the Thar Desert, both wonderful areas to explore. Tourists watch sunset from their boats on Lake Pichola, with views of the famous Lake Palace hotel. Enjoy the City Palace to Pichola’s east which features many magnificent courtyards and an outstanding painting collection.
You can shop endlessly for a vast range of colourful artisanry, and get right off the beaten track exploring a host of wildlife sanctuaries from the wild, from the forested hills of Kumbhalgarh to the grasslands of Sorsan. And if the heat gets too much, skip away to the cooler heights of Mount Abu, Rajasthan’s only hill station.
