Positive Impact Manager

At True Travel, we are committed to publicly reporting on our company’s operations and sustainability efforts each year. Our annual Impact Reports will showcase the key initiatives we have focused on, the progress we have made, and our goals for improvement moving forward as a business. Taking accountability as a business is crucial to further understanding our priorities and how we need to strengthen our efforts in order to deliver a genuine positive change.

Why do we do an Impact Report?

Having a positive impact on the environment, communities and the travel industry, has always been at the core of what we do and why we do it. We firmly believe that travel can and should be a force for good. Therefore, we are constantly looking for ways to do more good and expand our impact, not just with our profits, but with our everyday practices. This is why Impact Reports are so important in making sure we are not losing sight of our long term commitments and what we want to achieve in the future. With each Impact Report, we want to be as transparent and thorough as possible with our community and illustrate how we are taking steps in the right direction to safeguard the future of travel.

What does the report cover?

The report highlights our key areas of impact in 2023 and the charitable projects we have supported to date. Since the True Travel Foundation was created in 2016, we have supported three leading charitable projects who focus on community outreach, education and marine restoration, with a total of over £120,000 being donated to these causes.

These projects are the Female Empowerment Programme in Zambia, The Rucksack Project in Jaipur, India and Seawilding based on the west coast of Scotland. Our Impact Report details the individual contributions we have made to these projects along with the incredible work that has been done by these organisations in 2023.

Carbon Footprint and Offsetting Schemes

This section of our Impact Report highlights how we are minimising the carbon footprint of True Travel and the initiatives we have implemented in order to actively address climate change.

Our policy on offsetting remains as follows:

  • We calculate the carbon emissions of your entire trip through the Sustainable Travel International Calculator and are able to determine how much it would cost to offset this figure through our blue carbon partner, Seawilding.
  • We also measure and offset all of our team’s carbon footprint for all of their personal annual travel as well as their commuting emissions, and then double the offset through donations to Seawilding.

Positive Impact Travel in 2024

A lot has changed since our last report in 2022, and we are incredibly proud of the progress we have made over the past year to ensure sustainability runs through every layer of our business. In 2023, we set ambitious targets and soared to new heights. We attained B Corp Certification; we transitioned our Foundation into a dedicated charitable entity; and finally, we raised a magnificent £80,000 for our project partners – a 640% increase in funds raised from last year’s contribution. Through the B Hive and our membership with Travel by B Corp, we have connected with other B Corps and have supported one another as we strive to be more sustainable; sharing advice, expertise and resources that can benefit our business and theirs. This is an ongoing process and while there are many positives to take from 2023, we need to strengthen our efforts in 2024 towards establishing our Net Zero strategy and work towards effectively reducing the carbon footprint of our supply chain and our business as a whole.
