Boquete & The Chiriquí Highlands

Panama

The Chiriquí highlands offer a welcome breath of fresh air from the heat and humidity you’ll find in the rest of the country. The fertile volcanic soils produce numeros crops –  notably cacao, tropical fruits and coffee. In fact, the Panama Geisha coffee beans (the most exclusive and expensive in the world) are grown in this area! The Barú volcano looms over the charming mountainous town of Boquete, located at 1200m above sea level. Visitors can take part in a number of adrenaline-packed activities, such as ziplining, rafting and mountain biking. Closeby you’ll find the Amistad National Park, offering fantastic hiking opportunities with waterfalls and natural pools to swim in as well as fantastic birdwatching. Located about a 1 hour drive from David local airport, it’s easily accessible by a short flight from Panama City so can easily be connected with other parts of the country.
