Day 1 - 3: Havana

Bienvenido a Cuba!

You will be welcomed in Havana at the Jose Marti International Airport and transferred to one of Havana’s best hotels, the Royalton Habana where you will be able to relax for the rest of the evening, before your exciting cultural rollercoaster begins.

The next morning, you’ll start with a walking tour to discover Havana itself. Your guide will take you to the main squares of the colonial area: Plaza de Armas, Plaza de San Francisco de Asis, Plaza Vieja and Plaza de la Catedral. After enjoying a quintessential Cuban cocktail you will be driven in a vintage car through the modern part of the city, which is an experience in itself! Along the way you’ll ride past Revolution Square, the University of Havana, National Hotel, Capitol Building and the former Presidential Palace.

This afternoon you’ll embark on a tour of Cuba’s most loved drink: rum! You’ll learn about its importance to the Cuban people, both past and present, by discovering how rum is processed, from when it’s first harvested as sugar cane right up to the moment when the it touches your lips. Visiting the Havana Club Foundation, which recreates a traditional rum factory, will give you an opportunity to taste Cuba’s unique rum and understand why it has won so many international awards.

For your next day in this fascinating capital city, you’ll be able to enjoy some of Cuba’s best art galleries. Your tour starts with a visit to the Fine Arts Museum, which treasures the most complete and exhaustive collection of Cuban art existing in the world. Admire several of the best paintings displayed in this magnificent building, while guided by one of our art experts. Afterwards, explore some smaller art galleries and see how a little courage and creativity can go a long way.

Day 4: Terrazas

Today you’ll have an early breakfast before embarking on your next adventure, into the heart of the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, where you’ll be travelling along steep roads and unspoiled nature. Your first stop will be at Rancho Curujey, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing cocktail and a short story about a sustainable project that they are fully invested in.

Next, you’ll visit the Buenavista coffee plantation and continue to Las Terrazas community, where you’ll wander around Callejón Moka and have the chance to taste a freshly brewed cup of delicious Cuban coffee. Lunch will be held at one of the local authentic restaurants followed by some time at the San Juan River baths for a refreshing swim. You will then continue on to your hotel in Viñales.

Day 5: Viñales

After a delicious breakfast, your guide will pick you up and take you to explore the exceptional beauty of the Viñales Valley, a small village surrounded by unique haystack hills. Admire the magnificent landscape and get an insight into the region’s agriculture by meeting with farmers from the region and visiting a tobacco plantation to learn about the harvesting process of this important crop, which is the main agricultural product of the region. This day can be as active as you would like it to be, with multiple hiking options available.

Day 6: Zapata Peninsula & Cienfuegos

Today you’ll take a private transfer to the Zapata Peninsula. You’ll have a 2 hour stop along the way to break up the journey and explore some places at leisure, such as the Crocodile Breeding Farm, the Fish Cave or the Playa Giron Museum, depending on your preferences. You’ll arrive at your hotel in the city of Cienfuegos, The Melia San Carlos, and have the evening at leisure.

Day 7 - 8: Cienfuegos & Trinidad

Today, you’ll spend half a day unveiling the secrets of Cienfuegos city, the so-called ‘Pearl of the South’. Enjoy a panoramic tour visiting the National Monument (La Punta), El Palacio de Valle and El Paseo del Prado. Stroll along the boulevard to visit the monument of one of Cuba’s most treasured musicians, Beny Moré. Make the most of your time in the heart of the city by visiting the Cathedral as well as the Thomas Terry Theatre, one of Cuba’s oldest and most beautiful theatres. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. You will then travel on to Trinidad for your stay at the Iberostar Heritage Grand Trinidad.

For your full day in Trinidad, you’ll have a guided tour of the historical centre, which is full of remarkable colonial architecture and is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll be able to enjoy strolling around the Plaza Mayor and visit one of the museums as well as some local cultural projects. Afterwards, you will be transferred to Tope de Collantes, a natural park nestled in the Escambray Mountains where you’ll be able to do a short hike to enjoy the scenery and then enjoy a stop at La Casa del Café for a delicious cup of Cuban coffee.

Day 9 - 11: Cayo Santa Maria

Today, you will start by exploring the historical past of Santa Clara town, through its revolutionary legacy. Situated in central Cuba, Santa Clara is steeped in history as a result of the battles that took place during the Cuban revolution. Visit the Ernesto “Che” Guevara Mausoleum, the Armoured Train Park-Museum, Leoncio Vidal Park and the Boulevard. You’ll then have lunch at a local restaurant before you are taken to the beautiful Cuban coast for some much-deserved relaxation.

There are no plans in paradise so you will spend two days at leisure!
