Le Coucou, Meribel

Meribel

Superbly located at Meribel’s Rond Point at the heart of the Three Valleys in Belvedere, Le Coucou is a colourful take on a traditional chalet with terracotta walls, teddy bear chairs and sheepskin rugs. It’s all about the valley views and the hotel windows showcase Meribel’s slopes at every turn. With its elegant, traditional chalet styling, the mountainside hotel, spread over ten floors and 12,000 square meters, is perfectly in keeping with the surrounding landscape. The majority of the 55 rooms, 39 of which are suites, have a terrace so guests can enjoy the spectacular views over the surrounding scenery. From the architecture to the décor, architect Pierre Yovanovitch offers a new and inspired take on the classic repertoire of Alpine styling, adding a contemporary, warm and subtly quirky twist. Vintage furniture, architect-designed pieces, noble materials like stone, wood, glass and leather. . . The ambience is one of elegant relaxation in spaces that are perfect for couples and families. With 330 pistes and 155 ski lifts, Le Coucou has access to the biggest ski area in the world for both skiing and snowboarding. Stretching across the three valleys of Méribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens, guests can explore 600km of slopes connected by the summits, with 62,000 vertical metres of skiing. Sledging, hot air balloon rides and snowshoeing add an extra dimension to your stay. The hotel also boasts two chalets. Independent, but connected to the hotel via an indoor passageway, the luxury-sized chalets benefit from all the five-star services of Le Coucou. Fully equipped with four rooms and four bathrooms, a kitchen, a lounge opening onto a splendid vista, a game’s area and TV room, a pool and private spa, a ski room with ski-in/ski-out facilities, each chalet offers its guests a perfectly cosy and comfortable holiday in the mountains. There is no fear of going hungry at Le Coucou. With views over the ski slopes, the Bar is the place to get together at any time of day until your final nightcap before bed. Open from midday and into the evenings, the BeefBar, a restaurant concept created by Riccardo Giraudi in 2005, serves exceptional meat cuts and serves inside or on the immense terrace overlooking the valley. Lastly, the Restaurant Italien created by the Giraudi group offers a selection of specialities in the evening, and a generous breakfast buffet every morning. At the Kid’s Club, children can have great fun with a very kind yeti and some very funny monsters. With a TV cabin, slide, climbing wall, and activity workshops for the little ones… children are sure to have a ball. Teens can hang out together or with their parents at the Teen Club, playing ping pong or table football or singing a bit of karaoke. Fun and laughter off the slopes guaranteed!

Reasons we love Le Coucou

  • Riccardo Giraudi has brought his bovine Beefbar concept, popular everywhere from Mykonos to Monaco, to Méribel.
  • Ski-in Ski-out – no wrestling with your gear in and out of minibuses to the lift.
  • The spa is a triumph thanks to the Tata Harper products and an extensive list of indulgent treatments.
