Day 4-7
LINYANTI, Botswana
Selinda Explorers Camp offers respite from the ‘daily grind’ of traditional safaris with a stronger focus on guided walks, to take in the smaller things often missed from a vehicle.
From Chobe, you’ll fly down to the Linyanti for three nights at Selinda Explorers, located in the heart of the private 130,000 hectare Selinda Reserve. This intimate camp is designed in the style of the early explorers, with campaign furniture and vintage travelling trunks that lend a more authentic atmosphere to the camp. Each of the four canvas guest tents has been created to take you back to the golden age of safaris, with hot and cold water provided in large jugs for the copper vanities and a relaxed bohemian style. Overall the camp can be described as ‘bush elegance – unassuming, without holding back on the little luxuries.
While the camp is light on its footprint, it is undoubtedly heavy on its experiential luxury. Wildlife viewing is focused on guided walks in addition to drives, to allow the guests to learn about the smaller things often missed from a vehicle. After a morning spent walking, spend your afternoons in the hammock listening to the magical sounds of the African bush, before enjoying delicious food around the campfire under the star-studded sky.
Day 7-10
OKAVANGO DELTA, Botswana
Located in an exclusive 25,000-hectare wildlife concession, Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp offers some of the best flood plain views in the Delta.
Your safari adventure will end with a bang in the heart of the world famous Okavango Delta at Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp. Nestled under a canopy of African ebony trees, each of the nine ensuite tents sits on a raised wooden platform with spectacular views of the expansive lagoons and channels of the Delta. This corner of the Okavango boats superb game viewing opportunities which can be enjoyed by boat, on a mokoro canoe or on a game drive. Break up your day to try your hand at fishing or head out with your expert guide on foot as an alternative way to soak up the beauty of this unspoiled wilderness area.
The Pitchers
We had the most amazing time! John Barclay and his team were very special and the mobile safari exclusive and superb. Moremi was very quiet with few other tourists – no more than a dozen other vehicles seen in four days. Macatoo was also excellent with good riding and game. We were so grateful for the help that you offered when our BA flights went wrong. Many thanks again for the superb service and recommendations which made for a great holiday.
