Why we love it
La Villa is a haven for peace and tranquility, rich in art deco and antiques. Originally built in French colonial period, La Villa has had an interesting existence. It was originally a family house then a base for the general quarters for the Vietnamese
army during the Khmer Rouge period. More recently the house has been converted into a boutique hotel. It’s a cheerful base for exploring Battambang on the banks of the river Sangker.
Hop on a bamboo flatbed and take an exhilarating ride on tracks that used to transport villagers all the way down to Phnom Penh.
Visit a riverside Angkorian temple from the 11th century, that remains a popular pilgrimage and picnic site for local Khmers.
Visit Battambang's mountain caves at dusk to see the thousands of bats emerging, taking flight and creating swirling patterns in the sky.
Take some time to appreciate the hidden Cambodian art scene at Romcheik 5 Artspace, and learn about the country's history through art.

Sue & Michelle
I thought Cambodia was all about Angkor, but Katie told me about her recent trip, and before we knew it we were drinking cocktails in Phnom Penh at the Raffles bar, cruising down the Mekong, exploring lost jungle temples and then Six Senses Krabey was perfect for the end of the trip. Thank you again Katie, Molly and team TLT, that was one of the best!
