Gangtey

Bhutan

Gangtey, also known as Gangtey Valley or Phobjikha Valley, is situated in the district of Wangdue Phodrang, known for its unique beauty and cultural treasures. This tranquil region is characterised by expansive meadows and majestic mountains, where the rare and elegant black-necked cranes migrate each winter. The valley is home to the Gangtey Monastery, a key religious site for followers of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Visitors can explore exceptional hiking trails through ancient forests and traditional Bhutanese villages, offering insights into local culture and daily life. Gangtey provides a peaceful retreat and an opportunity to connect with nature in one of Bhutan’s most distinctive landscapes.
