Camelthorn Lodge is a new flag ship lodge which is nestled in a patch of pristine woodland just west of Ngamo on the edge of the South Eastern corner of Hwange National Park. The lodge is unique in it’s style and design and is named after it’s centre piece – a huge, ancient Camelthorn tree. Camelthorn provides a spectacular wilderness experience. Camelthorn’s 8 unique villas quietly nestle in one of Hwange’s last untouched corners of real woodland wilderness. Deep in amongst the camel thorn and ebony trees this new lodge offers huge glass fronted views, overlooking a large permanent waterhole and bird feeders that attracts some offthe smaller and less destructive woodland creatures; bush buck, duiker, mongoose and squirrel, not to mention a plethora of colourful bird life.Each individual luxurious villa is topped off with a private outdoor maisonette where you can soak up the suns rays, or even sleep out under the stars.Hwange’s is famous for its elephant, and there is a private underground blind where guests are able to sit and relax whilst observing the drinking wildlife up close.
Set on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, some 40kms upstream from the iconic Victoria Falls, Matetsi River Lodge is a superb base from which to explore The Falls, the town itself and also the Matetsi Private Game Reserve which covers 55,000 hectares of the Zambezi National Park.
