Mateya Safari Lodge is luxury accommodation at its best. Situated in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve this lodge oozes comfort and elegance as it melts into the untamed wild of the South African bush. Hosting a maximum of just 10 guests, Mateya Safari Lodge has five exclusive suites that are arranged around one of the Gabbro Hills with uninterrupted views of the waterhole and surrounding plains (which you can enjoy from the comfort of your private infinity pool). The suites also have large en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, a vast private deck area with sun loungers and are styled with beautifully unique African artwork. The boutique nature of this lodge means that there will never be more than 4 people in any game drive vehicle unless you want there to be. The small numbers of each drive mean that when you are observing the likes of the super 7 – buffalo, cheetah, elephant, lion, leopard, rhino (black and white) and wild dog – your view will be unobstructed. Mateya are also able to offer bush walks to guests over the age of 16 (although anyone over the age of 60 will need a written Doctor’s Bill of Health). Mateya Safari Lodge is named after the legend of Queen Mateya and the beautiful story stands so prominently with the lodge ethos. Crafted from materials found locally, the lodge has a majestic African feel that makes it the most memorable experience.- Mateya Safari Lodge unfortunately cannot host children under the age of nine unless the lodge is taken exclusively
