Recognised as one of the world’s premier locations for observing blue whales, the waters around Mirissa, just 40 minutes south of Galle, offer the potential to catch a mesmerising spectacle of magnificent blue whales emerging, breaching, and playing with their calves. The nutrient-rich waters also attract other diverse marine life, including spinner, bottlenose and striped dolphins, super pods of sperm whales and the striking black and white orca.
