PORTO, Portugal

  • Lose yourself whilst strolling through these beautiful cobbled streets
  • Explore fantastic port houses with unrivalled access

Visit the capital of Portugal’s beautiful northern region, full of medieval charm.

Your trip will begin with a three night stay at the elegant Yeatman Hotel, where each room is named after a type of Portuguese port or wine. Positioned on a hill overlooking the city and Douro River, we can reserve you the best table at the hotel’s two Michelin-starred restaurant where you’ll fine dine over spectacular views. With a private guide, soak up the colourful and charming atmosphere of Porto’s cobbled streets and architecture on foot. For those wishing to explore Porto’s surroundings, travel south along the coast to the quaint canals of Aveiro and the country’s medieval capital, Coimbra.

Day 4-9

DOURO VALLEY, Portugal

  • Take the gastronomic Presidential Train into the Douro Valley
  • Work up an appetite by kayaking on the Douro River

The Douro Valley is an area of outstanding natural beauty, where vineyards and river valleys are in abundance.

Feast on gourmet Portugese cuisine and fine wines whilst travelling on The Presidential Train to Six Senses Douro Valley. Set in the oldest and most distinguished wine region, spend four nights at a 19th century manor house flaunting exceptional vino and vistas over the vineyards and river valley. Explore the valley whilst kayaking along the river or trail walking up in the hills, and enjoy a privately guided tour around Lamego, a historical town of majestic architecture, bursting with Palaces and impressive Castles. For a private wine-tasting experience, visit the nearby historical wine villages and enjoy a personalised cooking class for a truly gastronomic adventure.

Sarah & Michael

We went to Portugal to experience the Douro Valley, but True Travel delivered so much more than that. We loved the experiences we requested, but it was their extra suggestions which made the trip extra special – the Presidential Train was a highlight.
