The resorts on this coast are few and far between and the area is all the better for it with some of the country’s best beaches. Luxury and exclusivity is what springs to mind for those choosing to stay in the area. While staying, no trip to the East Coast would be complete without a visit to the stunning island of Ile aux Cerfs, located in the lagoon of Trou d’eau Douce. Home to perhaps the world’s most beautiful beaches and endless snorkelling spots, Ile aux Cerfs is an absolute must. A world away from the more populated areas of Mauritius, the veritable peace and calm found here on the East Coast in absolute rarity. It is important to note that the breeze which is so welcome on the East Coast during the hot and humid months can become a problem during the windier season from June through to September, trade winds affect this un-sheltered side of the island and can impact your experience to the extent the beach is a no go area.
