UDAIPUR

Commonly known as the ‘City of Lakes’, Udaipur is also described as the most romantic spot in India. Surrounding the shimmering Lake Pichola, the quintessential marble architecture of the region rises high to counteract the tumbling Aravalli Hills along the horizon. The City Palace blends into the surrounding architecture,and is an unmissable visit when in Udaipur. The largest palace in Rajasthan was built by the city’s founder, Maharana Udai Singh II, with construction starting in 1599 which continued well in to the 18^th century. After a morning of soaking up the thriving culture, find a rooftop restaurant to watch the hustle and bustle playing out below.

JODHPUR

The blue city of Jodhpur circles at the foot of the majestic Mehrangarh fort. Within the maze of bustling streets your senses will be enchanted by the smell of incense, the cacophony of persistent salesmen, ruthless tuktuk drivers and sight of the bright blue blocks stretching to the edges of the city. The Mehrangarh fort towers an impressive 125 metres over the city, making itself of the largest forts in India. Building began in the 15^th century by Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur, however Jaswant Singh of Marwar built the majority of what stands now. Wandering around this awe-inspiring fort, the pure beauty and size is sure to blow you away. For those daring enough, challenge yourself to an adrenaline inducing zip-lining course at the rear of the fort.

JAIPUR

This bustling metropolis is often described as the pink city due to the vibrantly painted walls within the city centre. Famous for its gems and textiles, Jaipur’s shopping will not disappoint. Located just 11km from the city sits the vast and very beautiful Amer Fort. Sat on a hill, cobbled paths lead you up to the lavishly decorated building overlooking the Maota Lake. Make sure not to miss the beautiful Sheesh Mahal, decorated with hundreds of mirrors giving it the name the ‘Mirror Palace’.

PUSHKAR

The holy city of Pushkar is unlike anywhere else in Rajasthan. Set around a holy lake, days can be spent people watching from one of the 52 bathing ghats, or wandering down the main bazaar. A holy pilgrimage location for Hindus, Pushkar is home to many Sadhus (holy men) who wander the streets, and often the beautiful hum of the puja (prayer) will sweep over the city. A morning hike up to the Savitri Temple to watch the sunrise over the arid hills surrounding Pushkar is a must-do.

RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK

Highly regarded as the best place to spot a Bengal Tiger in India, Ranthambore National Park is one of India’s most renowned national parks. Rocky hills span the undulating horizon and enclose the 1334 sq km jungle, home to innumerable flora and fauna. The park plays host to one of the most diverse and biggest group of wildlife species and it is every spirited traveller and wildlife enthusiast’s haven. For the highest chance of spotting a tiger, be sure to visit in May or November.

KARAULI

For those intrepid explorers happy to slip off the beaten track, the city palace in Karauli is without a doubt one of the hidden gems of Rajasthan. Standing proud in the centre of the walled city, this stunning building exudes atmosphere and beauty.
