Sitting at the heart of Luang Prabang, Phousi Hill is home to Wat Chom Si and offers spectacular panoramic views over the city. Small temples and shrines cover the hill, providing an excuse to stop and admire the gilded rooftops, cave temples or statues of the Buddha as you climb the 300 steps to the top. Once at the peak, you’re rewarded with the iconic sight of the glowing golden spire of Wat Chom Si lit up by the final rays of the sun as it sets, while far below the city unfolds towards the jungle-clad hills beyond.
