Spanning 18 acres within the National Park, the hotel provides guests with access to an exhilarating wealth of adventure and activity. The original Georgian building is complemented by a modern wing, to create light-filled, inviting spaces which deliver much needed comfort after a day on the water, though you’re never far from views of Ullswater and the surrounding fells.Accommodation ranges from characterful rooms in the original building to more contemporary options in the new wing and cottages, shepherds huts and tree houses dotted around the grounds. Amenities are equally well-conceived, from the Swim Club to the library, Kids’ Zone and three dining options ranging from three-course seasonal dining to wood-fired pizzas in the Victorian-style Glasshouse. From archery to wild swimming, hiking to sailing, kayaking to biking, the hills and lakes offer endless activities while the 20-metre indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, sauna, and treatment rooms deliver much-needed relaxation. Families are also catered to with a range of children’s play areas, including a safari tent and wooden cabin, as well as supervised activities like crafts and forest skills.
