Northern Argentina is a perfect destination for holidays that combine culture with wildlife and contrasting landscapes. The parched deserts in Salta, fertile wetlands in Corrientes and Atlantic rainforest in Iguazu make an excellent trio in one trip or individually. Best visited between April and late August Northern Argentina is a fantastic option for a family summer holiday or a thrilling road trip for two.
East of Salta, Corrientes is home to the second-largest wetlands in the world (The Pantanal in Brazil takes first place), and it is a must-see destination for nature-lovers. We recommend staying at one of our favourite estancias (farms), surrounded by sparkling water. The vast horizons of The Ibera resemble the savannahs of East Africa; it is normal to expect to see a giraffe or herd of elephants silhouetted by the setting sun. Fly fishers will enjoy a chance at fishing for the infamous dorado fish that live in these rivers. Horseriders will love galloping on glittering marshland and swimming on horseback in the clear waters.
